RE 22 DEC 08 PCE J46
7 for aber 1901, Mon
1.
I have the honour to enclose copies of correspondence which I have received from His Majesty's Consul at Canton on the subject of the jurisdiction of Hongkong Courts in China.
In reply to a request of the Attorney General, the Supreme Court of Hongkong to issue a writ of SUMMONS to the Chinese defendant in Canton, has stated that in his view the Hongkong Court has no jurisdiction in the case in question.
His Excellency the Governor of Hongkong, DE PUTZ, holds the same opinion, in which I also concur.
However, it was requested in a telegram of October from Mr. Fox to defer consideration of the matter to the Honourable Sir ...avore PTCL.
